August 2024 Newsletter
DIRECTOR’S THOUGHTS, AUGUST, 2024
The name of the weather should be “COOL!” We certainly have been having very warm humid weather so far this year. We have had 90-degree weather so early in June, followed by high humidity in July. I still say it’s all of the things we send up into the atmosphere for better technology, however, it is DISRUPTING the normal atmosphere! I mean I believe in progress, but enough is enough. It seems every year we experience worse weather than the year before, not only the weather we experience here in Pa, but all over the world!
During the last weekend of June when some of us experience very high strong winds and rain, I lost power for 24 hours! A lot of trees and poles brought down wires in my area. Thank goodness I had a portable Honda generator my brother hooked my refrigerator/freezer and basement freezer into it, so I did not lose anything. I have lost power before but not for 24 hours! I survived!!
Have you been attending car events during this time of year? I cannot believe it is August already!! I will be hitting a mile marker birthday this month. I will be turning the big 65 on the tenth of this month!!! Some days I feel it, and other days, not. I passed with flying colors on my physical with the doctor but going through a not so nice adventure in getting on a medical insurance program. Buying a BUICK, old or new, was and is so much easier than coming up with medical insurance! When buying a BUICK, you know what you want and do not want, right? You know what it is going to cost you. With researching to come up with medical insurance that fits you, there are so many factors to take into consideration. It is so NERVE RACKING!!! But I am sure everything will work out. Your Elected Director, Sally

Das Awkscht Fescht
For those Buick enthusiasts who are unaware of the following, here you go: If you did not preregister your Buick this year for club day at DAF for Sunday, August 4, 2024, you can still be a participant and come day of show w/ your Buick to be parked w/ other Buicks on the show field. You will pay the higher registration fee, be parked w/ other Buicks, but you will NOT be able to receive the participant award that’s always given out. Also, if I am correct, your Buick does NOT have to be 25 years old to be a part of the show on that Sunday. So, if you thought you missed out in preregistering to participate, guess again.
Again, this year, we are in need of 3-4 “FREE SPIRIT” member volunteers to park the Buicks on Sunday, August 4, 2024. For each make of cars, the designated club has to provide their own volunteers to park the cars as they come in on Sunday. If we cannot provide volunteers to park BUICKS, we will BE MOVED TO A DIFFERENT AREA THE FOLLOWING YEAR!!!! So it is very important we have enough volunteers to park cars or we will be moved to a different area that may not be as shady and cool as we have under the huge tree that we have had for many a year!! Please call Sally (484-464-3418) to let her know you will be there by 7:00 AM to park BUICKS. Yes, I know that the time is very early; however, this does not come from Sally, but from Lester Manwiller, Ontelaunee Region AACA representative. I will be there early but will be setting up to sell the chapter items of the Ways-n-Means department.
