July 2024 Newsletter
DIRECTOR’S THOUGHTS, JULY, 2024
Can you believe it is July already!!?? It just seems like 2024 just started!! In just a few days, we will be celebrating the Fourth of July!! The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States. It commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when the Thirteen Colonies declared their independence from Great Britain, officially establishing the United States of America. On this day, Americans celebrate with festivals, parades, fireworks, barbecues, and other festive activities to honor their nation’s birthday. Do you have plans to entertain a picnic, only then to watch fireworks? I am sure there will be plenty offered in your area to view!! No matter what your plans will be, be safe and enjoy your day!!
July can be considered the month in the middle of the car show season. Have you been attending shows lately?? If you have, you may want to do a write-up article of your experience at a show and submit to me and I’ll place it in the newsletter for others to enjoy. Will anyone be attending the 2024 Buick National Meet in Strongsville, Ohio, July 10-13?? This event is hosted by the North East Ohio Chapter, BCA. If you plan to attend this event, again, you may want to submit an article to Sally to be placed in the newsletter. It would be very nice to share your experience with other members.
Your elected Director, Sally Getz
“Free Spirit” Meeting Minutes – JUNE, 2024
No meeting held during June due to the annual “Free Spirit” Chapter picnic being held on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Monthly meetings to resume September 2, 2024. Location to be determined.
Annual “Free Spirit” Chapter Picnic
15 members and 3 guests attended this event on Sunday, June 9, 2024 under the Weeping Willow Pavilion, Macungie Memorial Park, Macungie, Pa. The weather started out cloudy but the sun eventually came through, but, the wind could have been a bit calmer! Despite the low attendance, there was plenty enough food and desserts for everyone! This year there was a big surprise in the desserts! Bob Miles brought Ice Cream, yes, you heard me correctly, ICE CREAM!!! I cannot ever recall having had Ice Cream brought to past picnics!! Everyone enjoyed it!!
After our tummies were filled w the goodies, 2 door prizes were drawn: Bob Miles and Brent Senseny were the 2 door prize winners. While Dan Reiniger acquired the most points, 340, during a game, Heather Duckett acquired ZERO points and Brent Sensency acquired a runner up of acquiring 50 points.
A few rounds of Bingo were played by all. Several members were winners. The annual activity of preparing for mailing the 2024 Old Car Show flyers was not performed due to the gusts of wind throughout the afternoon.
A sympathy card was passed around for everyone to sign. It was for Spence Pope and family on the passing of member, Pete Pope.
Many “THANKS” to Thomas Duckett, Sandy and Dan Reiniger for being the chefs and servers. Also, many “THANKS” to those members who attended. Till next year, God willing………………………..Sally Getz

Das Awkscht Fescht
For those Buick enthusiasts who are unaware of the following, here you go: If you did not preregister your Buick this year for club day at DAF for Sunday, August 4, 2024, you can still be a participant and come day of show w/ your Buick to be parked w/ other Buicks on the show field. You will pay the registration fee, be parked w/ other Buicks, but you will not be able o receive the participant award that’s always given out @ 3:00 pm. Also, if I am correct, your Buick does NOT have to be 25 years old to be a part of the show on that Sunday. So, if you thought you missed out in preregistering to participate, guess again. This goes for that Sunday, August 4, 20204 ONLY! Hope to see you there!
Again, this year, we are in need of 3-4 “FREE SPIRIT” member volunteers to park the Buicks on Sunday, August 4, 2024. Each make of cars, the designated club has to provide their own volunteers to park the cars as they come in on Sunday. If we cannot provide volunteers to park BUICKS, we will BE MOVED TO A DIFFERENT AREA THE FOLLOWING YEAR!!!! So it is very important we have enough volunteers to park cars or we will be moved to a different area that may not be as shady and cool as we have under the huge tree that we have had for many a year!! Please call Sally (484-464-3418) to let her know you will be there by 7:00 AM to park BUICKS. Yes, I know that the time is very early; however, this does not come from Sally, but from Lester Manwiller, Ontelaunee Region AACA representative. I will be there early but will be setting up to sell the chapter items of the Ways-n-Means department.
