March 2023 Newsletter
“FREE SPIRIT” Chapter Newsletter, March 2023
DIRECTOR’S THOUGHTS, MARCH 2023
March is a “funny” time of the year. You ask, “why?” Well, the weather is still unsettled and does not know what it wants to do. While some days are sort of warm, other days are downright cold, BURR! People have short fuses due to having been inside for the winter. Car shows do not start yet. The only positive about March, is that it stays light out longer. It sort of gets one to think of the future months to come.
Are you getting ready for the show season? Better yet, is your BUICK ready for the car show season? There are already many shows being advertised on Facebook as I skim though and browse. I believe more and more car enthusiasts can’t wait to get out and to attend these shows, getting back to “normal”, pre pandemic speaking. Are you one of these car enthusiasts? Remember, “BUICKS were made to be driven.”
Earlier this year at the end of January, I met a Buick enthusiast from New York, at the Auto Swap Meet held at the Allentown Agri-plex Hall, Allentown, Pa. We met so he could pick up some car rims and fender skirts for his Buick Electra. Even though I did not go into the building, there sure were plenty of people walking to and from the Swap Meet. The parking lot was overflowing with cars!
SAVE THE FOLLOWING DATE: Mark your calendars, Sunday, April 16, 2023. Sally is organizing a day tour to the Louis J. Mascaro Automotive Museum, Birdsboro, PA.
The Louis J. Mascaro Automotive Museum is operated as a non-profit charitable foundation, whose purpose is to benefit educational programs and autistic and down syndrome children. There are more than 50 Limited Edition, High Performance Foreign and American-Made “Super Cars.” on display for Car enthusiasts to view. Visitors are welcome to take photos or videos of the displayed vehicles.
The Louis J. Mascaro Foundation was established for the operation of an automobile museum to benefit the local community. The museum is initially operated at 325 West Main Street, Birdsboro, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The Museum is designed to benefit the local and surrounding communities.
Birdsboro is a small local community near the borders of Berks, Montgomery, Chester and Lancaster Counties. Souderton is located in Montgomery County near the borders with Bucks County and Lehigh County, all of which will have ready access to the Museum. The population of these communities is approximately 3.2 million.
The proceeds from the Museum will be used to promote, educate and support programs and efforts that benefit and assist autistic children and children with Down Syndrome.
We will plan on meeting @ the Starlite Diner & Lounge, home of our monthly meetings, by 10:00 am. We will leave PROMPTLY by 10:15 am to travel the back roads to the tour destination, Louis J. Mascaro Automotive Museum,
Birdsboro, PA. Once there, we will have plenty of time to look around at all the vehicles on display. Lunch will follow at a local restaurant, PAY YOUR OWN. Are you thinking on attending this tour? Hopefully, YES!
There is a small charge for this tour. Member = $5.00 per person attending. Non-member = $12.00 per non-member attending
Please submit your name(s) along with your cash or a check, payable to “Free Spirit” Chapter, to Sally Getz, 1060 Main Road, Lehighton, Pa 18235
