 October’s chapter dinner meeting is on Tuesday, October 11^th, due to Hershey Region AACA meet the week of our regular meeting time.  PLEASE NOTE THIS DAY CHANGE.

During next months’ meeting, nominations will be taken for the following chapter positions: Secretary, Treasurer, 2 Board of Director’s, Membership Chairperson

Start this month about thinking of whom you will nominate next month.  Should you be unable to attend Novembers’ meeting, please contact Sally, 610-377-6130, to give her your nominations.   YOU have a voice in this fun-loving local Buick chapter!!

46th Annual Old Car Show w/ Outdoor Flea Market, Sunday, October 30, 2022       Believe it or not, this annual CHAPTER event is here!!  This event is being held @ Phifer’s Ice Dam, 880 Main Road, Lehighton, Pa 18235.  Once again, this event will require much membership help to fill ALL positions needed to host a show.  I am now asking for volunteers to contact me, 610-377-6130, to help out in various ways to host this annual event.  Don’t be shy, come on out and join in on helping to make this event a huge success!!  This show is held Rain or Shine!!!!

“Free Spirit” Meeting Minutes – September 6, 2022

Meeting called to order @ 7:30 pm.  19 members present.  Sally “Welcomed” everyone to tonight’s meeting.  She asked the group what exciting things they did:

Lisa Senishen/Steve Chappelear are planning their wedding bells for November.

Sally sold her ’82 Riviera.

John Moore sold his ’65 Skylark.

Ed/Isabel Lenny attended the National Buick meet, Lisle, Indiana and also traveled with the BDE group tours.

It was extremely nice to see all the members who attended this meeting, especially: Alice Schafer, Larry Martin, Jody/Melissa Oscavich, and David Hoag (our latest newest member)

        Motion to accept August meeting minutes, none due to   Summer vacation. 

Treasurer’s report:  Treasurers report for August 2022.  Motion to accept David Brady, seconded by Ed Lenny, so carried.  

COMMITTEE REPORTS:       

Historian: no report

Lehighton:  Flyers are available for members to take to hand out at car events, etc.  Thus far, we have 16 pre-registered cars and 3 pre-registered outdoor flea market spaces.  Officers and BOD’s will be asked to meet on the show field to layout the show field in mid – October.  

Membership – Received 3 new members during the summer months.  This chapter lost a few members  who opted not to renew their membership.

Members signed a “Thinking of You” card for fellow member, Eric Breiner.  Eric has been dealing w/ some neurological issues and will be undergoing brain surgery on September 19^th in a Philadelphia Hospital.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a positive outcome and rehab.  

Newsletter –  Printing costs have gone up $4.00/month for newsletter printing.  

Publicity – the Lehighton Old Car Show ad has been placed on free web sites.

Technical – no report

Ways-n-Means – Sold 2 items during DAF and handed out many local and national membership applications.  Sold 3 blankets during the summer:  California, Washington State and, South Carolina.

David Brady obtained membership badges.  If anyone needs a badge, please attend a meeting and Dolores (membership chairwoman) will be sure you receive one.      

OLD BUSINESS:    “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” was sung in celebration of the Chapters’ 45 years.  David Brady gave a synopsis of the chapters’ history.   BIRTHDAY balloons decorated the tables.  

Shirley Schafer and Kathleen Duckett are celebrating their birthdays this month. 

Ed/Isabel Lenny are celebrating their anniversary..

NEW BUSINESS:       Tri-Regional Buick Show to be held at the Classic Auto Mall, Morgantown, Pa,  June 21-24, 2023.  As of October 1, 2022, you can make your Holiday Inn room reservations for the 2023 show.  Make them, for you can always cancel up to 2 weeks in advance before the show.  Please keep abreast of the future newsletters to keep yourself updated on information on this show.  The following is what one can expect:

•  Wednesday =  Cruise-In at the Mall, 4 pm -8 pm.
•  Thursday = day tours =  AOW/Bulgari’s Restoration Shop,
•                             Dinner tour to Shady Maple Smorgasbord.
•  Friday = show car day followed by a banquet.
•  Saturday = day tours = AACA Library/AACA Museum

2022 Holiday Gathering

You don’t want to miss this years “Holiday Gathering.”  Each person in attendance will pay $15.00.  3 entrees will be offered.  Bring your cameras/iPhones, for you will want to take a lot of pictures during this years’ event!!  (Crazy Bingo is taking a break this year, may return in 2023.)  Watch next months’ newsletter to make your reservations!
