March 2022 Newsletter
DIRECTOR’S THOUGHTS, MARCH, 2022
Only one more month till the weather should become more enjoyable, meaning one can get outside and breathe in the fresh air! But remember, March can still give us a chance of some difficult weather. Anything goes I say!
Please join us for the March meeting. We will have a guest speaker, our very own, “Bob Miles.” He grew up living and working in the junkyard business. I am quite sure he will have some very interesting and intriguing true life stories to be told! Please join us for an exciting evening.
I am planning and organizing a day tour for this chapters’ membership to enjoy. The place of interest is the Classic Auto Mall, Morgantown, Pa. The date is April 1st, yes, April Fool’s Day.
Classic Auto Mall is a world class consignment house located in southeastern Pennsylvania with indoor showroom space for up to 1,000 collectable and special interest vehicles offered for sale. It is conveniently located just west of Philadelphia. This one of a kind building is climate controlled and security monitored and is the ultimate destination for classic and specialty car lovers. The building is located right on the Pennsylvania Turnpike with terrific frontage and exposure. Additionally, this one of a kind building houses one of the finest barn find collections in the world with over 400 vehicles on display. The facility and grounds have plenty of room for indoor and outdoor automotive related events, car shows, car club meets, ride and drives and more.
This wonderful facility started life as a clothing outlet mall in 1985 and then evolved into a furniture outlet mall until it closed its doors in 2011. There is a 188 room Holiday Inn with a walk-thru entrance attached to the facility that has a full-service restaurant, lounge, meeting facilities and an indoor swimming pool. The hotel just underwent a $3,000,000 renovation.
With an abundance of car collectors, car clubs and racetracks located within a short distance, this fantastic facility is ideally situated.
Their consignment program has classic car lovers excited to have a facility like this to store and offer their prized possessions for sale. They market vehicles worldwide and get top dollar for your one special car or your entire collection!
After you enjoy the day at the “MALL”, we will then take a very short drive down the road to Shady Maple Smogasboard and have lunch. For those who may have been to this facility, 1st – if your birthday is on this date, you pay nothing!! 2 nd – after our lunch, there is a full, huge gift shop under the restaurant where one can get lost in time. We will plan on meeting @ the Starlite Diner & Lounge on Friday, April 1st in their parking lot closest to Yocco’s place of business. We will leave there @ 9:00 am. Please feel free to meet there for breakfast prior to the leave time. Save this date on your calendars. We will have a most delightful day!!!! Your elected Director, Sally
