January 2022 Newsletter
DIRECTOR’S THOUGHTS, JANUARY, 2022
“WELCOME 2022!!” and “HAPPY NEW YEAR” to everyone near and far. I hope everyone had an enjoyable, relaxing, exuberant HOLIDAY and hoping SANTA was good to everyone!! Now is not only the time to reflect upon what we have accomplished, but, furthermore, what will, and can, we accomplish during the 2022 year? I know no one can predict or see into the future, but we do have some control over what we would like to see and or do, right? As long as we have our health and clear minds, we can accomplish many things. Do not ever give up on your dreams or projects. Get started and keep to the work entailed till the final product or dream has a happy ending. Life is too short to fret over things and to just simply give up. Life is very different and difficult in todays’ world, but we cannot give up or in to its difficulties put in front of us all. We are all strong and will prevail!!
Okay, enough on the soapbox. I wish and hope each of us has a better 2022 and that all our hopes & dreams come true.
Your elected Director, Sally
“Free Spirit” Meeting Minutes – December 7, 2021
No monthly chapter business meeting held due to annual “holiday Gathering” event. Hopefully will see everyone @ the January 4, 2022 chapter business meeting, weather permitting.
ANNUAL “HOLIDAY GATHERING”, December 7th
23 “Free Spirits” attended this years “Holiday Gathering” @ THE Starlite Diner & Lounge on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. All those in attendance, I believe, experienced a very fun-filled, exciting evening. Sally had a few announcements, members on the mend:
Martha/Howard Kriebel, Debbie/David Brady,, William Schaffer, Paul Schaffer.
Please keep these members in your thoughts and prayers for their continued mending.
Keep Saturday, January 8, 2022 open on your calendars for the AOW tour with Gary Hiller, followed by the RB Collection & Restoration shop tour, then late lunch/early dinner.
Bruce/Louise Stephens was awarded a gift certificate for being the 1st to make their reservations. Bob Miles was awarded a gift certificate for being the very, very last to join in on a fun evening, having made up his mind to join us @ 4:30 pm that afternoon, LOL!!
A “Lottery Ticket Cookie Jar” was raffled off, Brian Hersh was the lucky winner, congrats Brian!
A game, “Christmas Movie Trivia” was held. The group did pretty good except for the question, “What state did the movie, “The Christmas Story” take place? Indiana!!”
Candy jar game: “Grinch Kisses” won by Ed Lenny; Jack Harrison Buick (California) jar won by Bill Hallman; Reese’s Nutcracker/Mystery Shapes jar won by Bill Hallman ( he did open the jars and shared w/ everyone!)
The “Induction of Officers/BOD’s” took place. David Brady and Howard Kriebel were missing. Table centerpieces were raffled off to 6 members.
Dinner was exceptionally tasteful! No complaints were heard or mentioned. A special dessert was provided by the restaurant, chocolate/vanilla layer cake, YUM, YUM!! Everyone got an extra piece to take home!
“Crazy Bingo” was enjoyed by all. It seemed candles were a big hit item this year! Second in line were Lottery tickets!
Sally, and her family, wished everyone and their families’ a very safe, healthy and enjoyable “Holiday Season.”

Special Meet at the America on Wheels Museum for Saturday January 8th at 10 AM
I want to invite all of the Free Spirit Chapter members to see a very special exhibit that has just opened at the America on Wheels Museum in Allentown. The exhibit is called “ The Gary Hiller Collection from Boyhood to Manhood” and features 9 of my cars. It tells the story of my special collection from my very first car the 1930 Ford Model A that I got when I was 12 and still own and continues this story to the very rare 1933 Auburn “Boatail Speedster” that I acquired in 2021. I always had a special love for Buicks as you know so 5 of them are there as parts of the story.
I want to plan a Special Day Saturday January 8th to share the exhibit and all the great stories that go with each car on display with our members. The Museum is located at 5 North Front Street in Allentown, Pa and we will plan to meet at the Museum at 10AM.
After this tour with Gary, we will tour the RB Car Collection & Restoration Shop across from AOW. We will have a late lunch following the RB Museum.
The January weather is always a concern so we would like to know who is coming. MEMBER RESERVATION = $5.00/ per person. Please make check payable to;
“Free Spirit” Chapter” and send to:
