June 2021 Newsletter
Director’s Thoughts – JUNE, 2021
It is the time of year when I have the furnace maintenance man come to clean my furnace. Good news, it needed nothing as a major repair, but, he states the chimney itself needs to be cleaned. Well, years ago my husband and son would do just that. Clarence put up the ladders, then Brent would climb the chicken ladder to get to the top of the chimney only to put down a rope on a chain to clean the inside of the chimney. Then Clarence would take off the piping at the furnace and clean out all the soot from the chimney. Now this hasn’t been done for the last 3 years. What does a woman know about cleaning a chimney and how often! Well, so today the Chimney Sweep has come to inspect and to clean the chimney. Now since the home was built in the late 1800’s, if you go up into the attic, the chimney has a slight curviness to it! Plus, it’s a more narrow type of chimney the Sweep tells me which is common for the date of the home.
How many of you have seen the movie, “Mary Poppins?” Remember the scene when the chimney Sweeps dance around the different chimney’s? Well, with the technology of today, the today’s Chimney Sweep looks nothing like the Sweeps in the Mary Poppins day! A much cleaner Sweep!
As you already know the car season has begun with the many shows and events being held and being advertised. YEH!!!
Is anyone planning on attending the AACA show in Auburn, Indiana in the beginning of July? If you are, please let me know for I have items to be delivered to Pete Phillips who will be attending that event. Maybe you can help both Pete and I out. Sally Getz, csgetz@ptd.net, 610-377-6130. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
This month of the 6th month of the year! Boy, where did the time go? In another 6 month, the Holidays will be here!! Please remember, this month is chapter renewal month. Its only $12.00 to renew! I wish you all a great sunny summer w/ relaxations on your terms in the hopes of returning in September, so full of energy for this chapters’ OLD CAR SHOW event in LEHIGHTON, PA on Sunday, October 31, 2021
Your Director, Sally Getz

Sally “THANKED” everyone for their thoughts, prayers, cards, phone calls, e-mails during the unexpected sad time of the passing of her sister, Mary Ruth. Mary Ruth was an advertiser in this chapters newsletter. Hopefully her son, Jason, will take over the shop and continue to be an advertiser next year.
As of tonight, the BCA DOES NOT currently have extra chapter insurance for chapters to host their shows. Therefore, if a chapter hosts an event and injuries occur, that chapter and its membership have no backing from the BCA. This is being looked into.
John Moore, during one of his market travels, found a booklet on the “Buick Collectors Club.” While looking on the inside he found Charlie Arnolds name as being a member. This club disbanded in 1967, a year after the Buick Club of America was founded in 1966.
Motion made to adjourn: Dolores Kennedy, seconded by Shirley Schafer, so carried. Time = 8:10 pm.
